Jenny Hunter Groat – “Her Way”

Length: 6 min   “WHAT IS IT THAT YOU FEAR? SOME ARTISTS SAY THEY FEAR THE BLANK CANVAS, others say they fear other things., ALTHOUGH I AM NEVER NOW AFRAID OF THE BLANK CANVAS, I HAVE OFTEN, IN MY LIFETIME, FEARED SOMETHING. Most often it has been fear of starting something new. IN FACT, I can say that I’ve BEEN AFRAID OF EVERYTHING I’VE EVER BEGUN, BUT I WENT AHEAD AND DID IT ANYHOW” –  Jenny Hunter Groat

Thank you for a 6-minute oasis. I love it, wanted more. What delight to watch her begin a new piece. “Who are you?”

Richard: Beautiful. You have infinite patience. Love the way her world is revealed and the work unfolds. Love the Buddhist “temple” bells and water motifs. Such a refreshing film.

  10. Thank you so much for this beautiful film. I haven’t seen Jenny in person since 1990, but she was my most important teacher and mentor. I just learned of her death. I will miss her always. I’m so glad I got to see this recent portrait of her… it captures her spirit so beautifully.

  15. I’ve been watching “Her way” but hear no voice with it. Did this film have accompanying speech. I’m dying to hear it.

    • Hi Dolores,

Yes it does. Try playing a video that you know has soon and check back. Could be you turned down your volume at some point.

I met Jenny through soft block carving and she was my student and my teacher both even though I never met her in person. I miss her so terribly but I also got a lot of comfort from your film to show me her humor and lightness of spirit even as she knew she was moving on to the Great Adventure. Thank you for posting this.
